Hot off the Wire

In Charleston, WV, an elderly lady, living on a fixed income, asked Lucky Ray, Executive Director, ABMen-USA, for assistance in replacing her leaking roof. Brian Jones, owner of Roofing Solutions, LLC, of Charleston and his crew answered the call. Brian supplied the materials at no cost and his crew members did the work for no pay. They arrived at the home and began work about 9 AM, December 20, 2017 and completed the job at 1:30 PM. Needless to say, the homeowner was very excited and pleased with what the men had accomplished in such a short period of time. At the end of the project, Lucky said a prayer of thanks for the crew and smiles and a feeling of satisfaction was very evident in the men. Brian said, “This is what God’s people are supposed to do for those in need.” Although Roofing Solutions, LLC, (304-553-6027) is a Charleston based company, I highly recommend them for any roofing needs that you may have. I praise God for those who use their God-given talents to help others.

Volunteers, Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I greet you in the name of our blessed Jesus. I pray life is good for you and God continues to bless you and your family. I also pray that you are excited about our upcoming return to Green Lake Conference Center. Ted Dominowski is compiling a list of various needs, such as brush clearing, tree work, maintenance, painting buildings, some demo stuff and more.

In a recent request for volunteers for Sellers, SC, I noted a reminder of the Green Lake work week as being the dates of September 17th thru the 23rd. In fact, we are only scheduled to work through Thursday, September 21st and travel home on Friday, the 22nd  , as a large group will be coming in Friday afternoon.

However, if you would rather continue to work on Friday, as I plan to do, and then leave Saturday as your travel home day, we can do that. If you want to stay until Saturday, you must check out of the Roger Williams Inn and move to the Carroll Youth Center, South Hall for Friday. Bedding and linen is provided. Ted will also need this information in order to plan for the projects for Friday.

If you choose to stay over on Friday, leaving Saturday 9-23-17, please indicate such on the enclosed Registration Form so that arrangements can be made for meals and bedding, etc. Please submit the Registration Form as per the instructions on the Form. Remember, we are only permitted to have up to 50 participants, so get  registered as soon as you can.

Please use the attached Registration Form and follow the instructions on how to submit it.

Thanks, again for all you are doing for the Lord at home, at church and in your community.

Greetings VOLUNTEERS. I pray your summer is going well and the Lord is blessing you daily. Fall is around the corner and I’m sure plans are being made for last minute trips and family gatherings before school and other time requirements take control of your lives. As you may recall,  ABMen-USA Disaster Relief teams have been working in Sellers, SC.  Hurricane Matthew flooded this small, poor community in October 2016. There are still people living with friends or other family members because their own homes are not yet livable.

Jack Cobb, ABMen-USA Disaster Relief Coordinator and I will return to Sellers on Sunday, September 3, 2017 to work from Monday, September 4, 2017 to Saturday afternoon, September 9th. The work projects include rehabilitating floors, walls, electrical and other actions necessary for getting these deserving and grateful families back in their homes.

Yes, we are calling for a work party during the “Labor” Day week. What better way to spend “Labor” Day than to “Labor” in the Mission Field for Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen!  I have become very close to many of the people of Sellers and find them to be God loving, precious friends, who truly appreciate the smallest sacrifice we might do for them. Many of them are elderly, some with medical issues and some are not employed. But they are very deserving of whatever we can do to help bring their lives back to normalcy.

Please prayerfully consider joining us in Sellers, SC during “Labor” Day week. Perhaps you can join us for only a day or two, but any help will be greatly appreciated. We enjoy great fellowship with co-laborers and the local people of the community. Sellers is located on US route 301 and is about an hour from Myrtle Beach, SC. We stay at the Community Center located at 2635 Main St, Sellers, SC 29592. We sleep on Red Cross cots and prepare some of our meals and others are provided. We have a rudimentary shower stall fabricated in the janitor’s closet. You will need a sleeping bag and pillow or sheets and blanket and personal items such as towels, wash cloth, soap, etc.

Please contact me by August 25, 2017 if you plan to join us in this mission experience. God will bless you!

ABMen NYS Men’s Rally 2017 Our 85 year

Our 85 th year   Aug 11-13 , 2017

The theme of AB Men NYS Conference 2017 is “There is nothing magical about Salvation.”

“A man named Simon lived in the city. For quite a while he had practiced evil magic there. He amazed all the people of Samaria. He claimed to be someone great. And all the people listened to him, from the least important of them to the most important. They exclaimed, “It is right to call this man the Great Power of God!” He had amazed them for a long time with his evil magic. So they followed him. But Philip announced the good news of God’s kingdom and the name of Jesus Christ. So men and women believed and were baptized. Simon himself believed and was baptized. He followed Philip everywhere. He was amazed by the great signs and miracles he saw.” (Acts 8: 9-13 NIRV)

Magic verses miracle. One is of man the other is of God!

The resurrection of Jesus Christ was not some illusion intended to fool the people. It was not some conspiracy of robbing the grave and taking the body of Jesus away to a hidden location. The Resurrection of Jesus was a miracle by God. A miracle for the world, the victory over sin and death for everyone who believes on Jesus. The son of God, who died for our sins and was risen again on the third day. The cross held no magical powers, it held our Savior and it took gifts of love and sacrifice of Christ for all people. The miracle came on the third day, not magic, but a miracle. Even Simon, the powerful magician, once he began to follow Phillip; saw great signs and miracles and believed on the Gospel of Jesus and was baptized. The power of the Good News is the true Divine Power and is the Greatest Power of all.  Magic is of man, miracles and Salvation is of God through Jesus Christ our Savior!
