Hot off the Wire

I was truly blessed today, being a part of the ABMen of WV Disaster Relief Team in Rainelle, WV. The Team continues to bless the community, cleaning homes and spending time in fellowship with the people of Rainelle. Then, I was doubly blessed by the large group of volunteers from Crab Orchard Baptist Church, near Beckley, WV. They did a fantastic job clearing  everything from one of the badly flooded homes, including removing the appliances, furniture siding and the metal skirting from the house. Even though they were dirty and tired, they accepted additional assignments. I am really proud of them and look forward to working with them again. Our host church is First Baptist Church of Rainelle. Pastor David Bush is doing an excellent job with the help of his Church DR Coordinator, Bud Whitlow and many others. Anyone asking for assistance is taken care of and those too embarrassed to ask are offered assistance. The members cleaned their “Life Christian Center” and it is now a major supplier of whatever needs the affected citizens require, from toothpaste, to toilet paper, or cleaning supplies, water or food. I was impressed by the joy of the people I met, the locals and also volunteers from other towns and states. I am very proud of the American Baptist Men of WV and they will continue being “the hands and feet of Christ” for the people of Rainelle as long as there is a need.
