(report as of 12-21-12)

“Praise God you’re here!”- “Seems like the “church people” are the ones who really care.” -“God did send us angels!” These are a just a few of the exclamations, many through tears, which I personally heard from people to whom we offered assistance. The New Jersey coastal area was hit very hard by “Storm Sandy”. Many people still are not able to stay in their homes while the mold and decay continue. Volunteers from Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, New Hampshire and West Virginia responded with large groups. Of course, several ladies did a fantastic job alongside the men.

Hundreds of trees were cut, tons of brush, logs and debris were hauled to the curb and moldy, rotted furniture and personal belongings were thrown in the dumpster. The volunteers made a lot of new friends. They were adopted and well cared for by the congregation at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Red Bank, NJ and also by the members of Ardena Baptist Church in Freehold, NJ. They had lunch a couple times in the home of a family for whom they cleared tress. Another young couple provided a great supper of chili to the crew and another family allowed some of the volunteers to sleep and bathe in their home.

As I have said before, we always want to bless those in need and suffering from the trauma of seeing their homes and property damaged by storms. But the reality is that we are always the ones who are blessed by those we help. There is still more to do. The tree situation is getting under control, but many homes need to be cleaned or “mucked out”. Volunteers are invited to return to the area in January. Please contact Jack Cobb for information at . Please pray for the volunteers as they continue to put themselves in harms way while being the “hands and feet of Christ” for some really good people in need. Take time to visit our website at for more information, including pictures, videos and testimonies. It is also easy to donate to our ministries on the website. Please share this with your fellow laborers in ministry and send them to the website.
