APRIL 8-26, 2013

Brothers and Sisters, I pray that you are getting more excited about our return to Hopi Land in April. Last year our mission was altered at the request of the Missionaries and the church members. We concentrated on structural repairs to the church, providing a better water system and expanding the kitchen and remodeling the Community Center. There is a great deal of work that needs to be done at Sunlight Mission Church, including more improvements to the church, the parsonage, the septic system, the basketball court, and the playground. The new multipurpose building is something that we would like to also complete this year, but we are having difficulty obtaining the necessary funding. Our goal of $30,000 will allow us to do some wonderful things for the Church, the Missionaries and the people of Second Mesa, AZ. However, as I write this note, we only have about $6,000 on hand. You should know that the American Baptist Home Mission Societies has donated $5,000 of that total. We are blessed and thankful for this gift. Rainbow Acres, an ABC-USA sponsored ministry near Phoenix, AZ is also in need of our assistance, so funding will determine just how much we can accomplish this year. We will begin on Monday, April 8, 2013 and we hope to complete the work by Friday, April 26, 2013.

Please know that donations can be made online at or sent to ABMen-Hopi at PO Box 1019, Parkesrburg, WV 26102. We are also asking for those ABMen Groups who are planning to participate in the Annual ABMen Prayer Breakfast in February to designate a portion of the offerings to the HOPI PROJECT.

The actual tasks for this year will be determined in mid March, depending on the amount of funding at that time. The cost for the volunteers is the same as last year: $40.00 non refundable Registration fee; $150.00 per week for room and board.  Individual mission team members will be responsible for transportation and and from Second Mesa, AZ; those who fly will be picked up at the Flagstaff, AZ airport and transported to Second Mesa.

Please be in prayer for this mission. Pray for God to send the workers and the funding. Prayerfully consider joining us in this very necessary and exciting activity. You will meet some great people and make some new friends. Go to to register.  Please contact me if you have any questions.
